Proverbs of Heck

The deer crosses the road to where she has to go.
Many times the radio with nothing on
is preferred to the silence of road noise, etc.
The small hairs of our faces inevitably end up
in our food and in our mouths, the blank spaces
of the everyday. There are those in the world
who have studied moon dust and those who read about it
in the newspapers that remain. The signs of the Zodiac
are fun to look at with young children who want to know
why, for instance, Pisces consists of two fish, or what
exactly a Virgo is. On the drive home, it's clear:
you never pass the same deer twice, or if you do
you have no idea. The morning breaks like a kneecap.
Yesterday's thoughts disappear like our faces' little hairs.
