At the supermarket one notices
an empty carriage makes the most noise.
Someone else's cookie always looks bigger.
A kitchen knife doesn't know the butcher's work.
Speak of the tiger, travel a thousand miles.
Talk nice to other people, even a dog
can recite a poem. Words have no wings
but there is a hole from which you can escape.
It's darkest beneath a mountain. There's no sleep
beneath a lampshade. Gather dust. Stay humble
to kill a fly. Wise men sleep with the door
lock broken. The thief hates a smiling face.
The rabbit's haste is born of fear; the turtle's
slowness, thought. The tiger keeps them moving.
